Elias, your pinup illustrations are seriously sexy! Do you have a creative process?

Thank you. Yes, I always follow the same parts. First I sketch my subject on the paper, then I ink it, next I bring it on my mac and I open it in the famous program image processing where I paint it.

Who are your top 3 favorite pinup models to illustrate?

Well, I have some models in my mind mainly for their poses. For example I can say that Bettie Page always inspires me. I loved her body for the first time I saw it in photos. She was definitely a real pinup girl. I could say Marilyn for the same reasons. Dita Von Teese is one more pinup model that I like for her poses of course as well for her lifestyle that she does.

Other pinup artist(s) I admire are…

My favorite pinup artist was Gil Elvgren. Among the artists who still exist I admire many of them. Of course Dean Yangle, Serge Birault, Barbara Jensen and more. Each of them have a different personal style in their drawings, I think that is very important for each artist.

My earliest memory of being creative was when…

When I was 3 years old! I’m kidding, when I was in high school I use to see Disney’s films on TV and cinemas as well. So I was copying the heroes of the movies that I had been watching mainly the women. One day I created a girl with eyes of Jasmin, Ariel’s hair and the body of Pocahontas. The result was awful but in that period of my life I loved it. That moment I understood that this was the thing that I most wanted to do.

Proudest moment in my career so far…

I don’t know what I could say about that. I hope that this day will be come.

My favorite pinup sexy toon was inspired by…

Difficult question. Every new piece of mine is my favorite till the time that I’ll do something new. One of my favorites called “sweet love” is a girl with a red dress who eats a cherry from her cupcake. I love her expression. It was inspired from a photo that I saw.

Favorite moment of the day…

My favorite moment of the day I think is when I sleep in my bed holding my cat. Hehe…

Favorite distractions while creating are…

Favorite? Are you kidding me? I don’t want anything to disturb me while I work. Most times this never happens. Usually there is someone who will interrupt me with a phone call or something.

Favorite snack food while creating is…

Certainly a chocolate bar. I’m chocoholic. If you want something from me you now know my weakness.

My favorite things are…

My favorite things are my pencil, I have the same pencil for years. I take it with me in my trips so that I can draw something in the place where I am. Besides my materials of my work I love my photo camera.

I unwind by…

I usually unwind with a film, especially when it is an action or fantasy movie.

What keeps me up at night…

Many times I have sleep in the bag. However, there are some times that my mind fills with thoughts of my job. For example I have a project I must finish before the deadline ends but within the same time period I might have one or two projects so I have to decide which of them to start first.

My guiltiest pleasure…

I wish I had time for…

I like to draw with oils on canvas. Unfortunately I don’t have plenty of time to do that, so if I had more time I would draw with oils.

My personal philosophy in life are…

If you are able to do something today don’t wait to do it tomorrow. Tomorrow is another day and you can’t know what will happen.

My perfect day would involve…

My perfect day would involve having a lunch at a Greek island with my best friends.

If I could say one thing to myself 10 years ago…

Maybe something like this, “Elias, you must have patience for the future.”

I would like to say to my fans a BIG thank you for their support to my work all of these years. Without them I have nothing.
